RMU Library is currently collaborating with PALCI (the same consortium we work with to bring you EZ-Borrow books) to offer access to thousands of eBooks through Discovery on the EBSCO eBook platform. Once you find an eBook and want to view it, you will be prompted for your “MyEBSCO” account password. If you have never created a personalized account within EBSCO, for saving search results, articles, etc., you will need to create a MyEBSCO account. Once you create a MyEBSCO account, you will not need to create one again. Each eBooks you check out through this PALCI eBook program will be available to you in your MyEBSCO account for 7 days.
When titles are viewed for more than 10 minutes or are downloaded by any participating PALCI library user, a purchase of the title is triggered and these titles will become part of the PALCI collective eBook holdings. At the conclusion of the pilot, purchased titles will also be accessible via the EZ-Borrow platform.
The PALCI DDA project is a way for RMU Library to provide access to eBooks while simultaneously supporting the ILL cooperation model, combining funds to create a pool of consortially-owned books to which many users have access across a statewide network of academic libraries.
